Exciting news!  My cousin from Rome, Italy will be visiting me from October 1 -9.

His name is Claudio and he does NOT SPEAK ENGLISH !

Si chima Claudio and NON PARLO INGLESE !!

His grandfather and my grandfather were brothers.  One remained in Italy, the other emigrated to the USA.

Suo nonno e mio nonno erano fratelli.

Uno rimasto in Italia ed uno venuto negli USA.

Our father's were first cousins.

I nostri padri erano cugini.

Immacolatta Costantini Di Ferdinando.

We have the same great-grandmother.

Abbiamo la stessa bisnonna.

Claudio and I share the same family name: Di Ferdinando.

Claudio ed io abbiamo lo stesso cognome:  Di Ferdinando.

This is the main reason I have been trying so hard to learn Italian !

Ho cercato molto parlare italiano meglio per questa visita ... ma io sono nervoso !!!!!!

Max the "Barker" / Troppo Abbaia

Being a Poodle, Max is very protective of me and barks at every sound and everything that passes our house.

Perche e' un "Poodle", Max e' molto protettivo e abbaia a tutto.

We live in a "townhouse community" and the house are very close together.

Dove noi abitare le case sono molto vicino.

Well, I have one neighbor who complains about Max barking.  I try to control Max, but he still barks.

Adesso, io ho una vicina che si lamenta che Max abbaiare.  Cerco di controllare Max, ma ancora lui si abbaia.

Yesterday the neighbor complained again.  I just said "sorry" and walked away.

I FELT like saying "if you want total silence move out to the middle of nowhere, don't live in a townhouse !"

But, I just held my peace...

Ierei, la vicina ancora si lamentae.  Ho detto "mi dispiace."

Ma ,MI SENTO di dire " se si vuole il silenzio totale, andare spostare dove non ci sono case!"

Ma, non lo dico....

To learn Italian better, I am reading a Bible in Italian.  

I must say, I think the translation in the Italian language is more clear and precise. 

Adesso, per imparare la lingua italiana meglio, sto leggendo una Bibbia in Italiano.

Davvero, io penso che la Bibbia nella lingua italiana è più chiara e precisa di significato.

This post I want to share a special place ... SAVE THE CHIMPS Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Fort Pierce, Florida.

It was founded in 1997 by Dr. Carol Noon as a permanent sanctuary for chimpanzees used in the United States Space Program, chimps rescued from research labs, former pets, and entertainment chimps.

I am going to show some disturbing PICS of research lab conditions for chimpanzees.

But, I also want to share the wonderful conditions and new lives of the chimps at the sanctuary in Florida.

A Few Little Changes

Well, it's nothing big, but I've made some "seasonal" changes to the old blog.

A Little Girl in Calgary

Diamond Marshall, a  little 6 year old girl from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with Stage 4 cancer wanted to meet Princess Kate...these are some PICS. 

Diamond Marshall, una ragazza di 6 anni, da Calgary, Alberta, Canada, con la "Stage 4 cancer" voluto incontrare Princess Kate ... questi sono alcuni PICS.

She gave Kate flowers and a "friendship bracelet" that she made herself.

Lei ha dato a Kate i fiori e un "braccialetto dell'amicizia" che lei stessa fatto.

William was very kind to the shy little girl, he reminded me very much of his mother, Diana.

William è stato molto gentile con la ragazza timida, mi ha ricordato molto di sua madre, Diana.

This is the letter she wrote to Kate.

Questa è la lettera che lei ha scritto a Kate.

Little Diamond is so sweet and fragile, she reminds me of a delicate flower or a feather.

I cried when I read this story and thought about it for days...

If anyone is familiar with Rosetta, you will know that she is such a gentle, sweet soul.

Se si conosce Rosetta, sa (o conosce ?) che e' gentilissima, carissima, dolcissima e bellissima.

Ok, now I have to write 7 things to describe me....mmmmmm....in no particular order, 

Adesso dovrei scrivere 7 cosi che mi descrivono..... mmmmmm.....,

1) I really do believe in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and in the world to come, Amen,

2)  I love all animals,

3)  I love my 10 year old son, the baby I always wanted, but thought maybe I would never have,

4)  I love to garden,

5)  The most important, loved person in my life was my friend, Johanne, who died in October 2009, but I am confident our friendship will be even greater in Heaven,

6)  I am trying very hard to speak Italian,

7)  I have suffered from depression my whole life and need to take medication to be OK.


1) Credo davvero in Dio, il Padre, il Figlio e Lo Spirito Santo, e nel mondo a venire, Amen,

When I was at my mother's house, we found the bridesmaid dress I wore in my brother's wedding in March, 1983.  I was 20 years old then.

Quando ero a casa di mia madre, abiamo trovato il vestito da damigella d'onore che ho indossato al matrimonio di mio fratello nel marzo del 1983.  Avevo 20 anni allora.

 There is NO WAY I can fit into this dress now.

George and Cheryl are still married, and have a 23 year old son, and a 19 year old daughter.
